A man allegedly bashed to death met his fate after responding to a sex ad on the online marketplace Craigslist, Queensland police claim. Detectives are now calling on others who were robbed after responding to a similar Craigslist ad to come forward to help their investigation. The broken tennis racquet found at the crime scene. Police allege, however, that when she turned up to meet Mr Spencer she was with her year-old co-accused and they assaulted Mr Spencer with a baseball bat. Police have also found a smashed wooden tennis racquet with blood on it at the scene of the alleged crime. Superintendent Hutchinson said Mr Spencer and the accused woman had known each other, but on the night of Mr Spencer's death he did not realise she was the person who was allegedly coming to his house.
He confirmed the two accused were in a relationship and the woman was a mother of three. The man had one child. They were arrested on Wednesday afternoon and driven to the Southport watchhouse. The pair have also charged with robbery with violence, along with burglary with violence whilst in company and assault in relation to an alleged robbery in Holmview which occurred the day before Mr Spencer's death.
